Two Days in the Bighorn Basin began as a personal project created shortly after I purchased a new camera and wanted to explore its capabilities in real-world conditions. With my family out of town, I spent two full days traveling through the Bighorn Basin with no fixed production schedule, filming the landscapes, wildlife, and quiet moments I encountered along the way.
Unlike a commissioned project, there was no client direction, script, or predetermined storyline. The challenge was to remain observant, react to unpredictable wildlife behavior, and capture enough variety to create a cohesive film from whatever the two days provided.
After filming, I reviewed and organized the footage and developed the story through the edit. The final piece was structured around orchestral, soundtrack-style music, using pacing, visual transitions, and changes in the score to create a sense of movement through the region. The commercial music was used with permission from the artist.
Post-production included footage selection, narrative sequencing, editing, color correction, music synchronization, and final delivery for online viewing. The finished film has since been featured by local social media pages as part of their efforts to showcase tourism, wildlife, and the natural character of the Bighorn Basin.
This project demonstrates my ability to work independently, capture unscripted wildlife and landscape footage, and build an emotional visual story without dialogue or narration.
My role: Concept development, location exploration, wildlife and landscape cinematography, footage organization, editing, music selection and synchronization, color correction, and final online delivery.
