Children’s Handwriting Workbook

This handwriting workbook began as a practical project for our own family. My wife has homeschooled our children for many years and also works with other local children, giving her a clear understanding of what keeps young learners engaged and where traditional handwriting books often fall short. She wanted a custom workbook that combined structured writing practice with more variety, personality, and age-appropriate humor.

Working closely with her, I developed the book around the features she felt would be most useful for preschool and kindergarten-age learners. The workbook includes letter practice, sight words, and joke-based writing activities designed to help children build confidence while keeping the lessons from feeling overly repetitive. Her experience helped guide the educational structure, pacing, wording, and overall usability of the pages.

My role was to turn that direction into a complete visual system for the book. I created the page layouts, activity structure, illustrations, section pages, cover design, and supporting graphics while maintaining a consistent style throughout the workbook. Each page needed to feel playful and approachable while still remaining clear, organized, and easy for both children and parents to use.

The project also required careful attention to print production. I prepared the final interior and cover files for publication through Amazon KDP, making sure the margins, page dimensions, image quality, and overall layout worked correctly in the finished printed book.

The result is a fully developed educational product shaped by real homeschooling experience and designed to make early handwriting practice more enjoyable, useful, and visually engaging.
