I am extremely intrigued by what is technically called Low Key Photography, how light and shadow can illuminate and de-luminate aspects of a subject to create an emotionally moving image. My goal with photographing taxidermy mounts is to create an epic image while at the same time taking away the ability of the viewer to determine if the animal in the photograph is alive or not. I have been so obsessed with this that I've spent much of the last 3 years perfecting this style. Thanks to local taxidermists and willing friends, I've taken a lot of photos of mounts and I've edited a lot of my wildlife photos and photos of other photographers (with permission) to this style. With each image I create I'm left wanting to do more. Though lighting the subject and taking the picture is a big part of how I create the image, being a mobile photographer without a studio has presented challenges with lighting and backgrounds that are only able to be remedied in Photoshop. Editing a photo is more than half the work to achieve my desired result no matter how good the conditions are during the photo shoot, there is just a certain way I like them to look and this is not achievable without Photoshop. I feel like my work is relatively unknown, though through social media efforts (which are meager) I am seeing more and more people (especially in the taxidermy world) duplicating (or attempting to duplicate) my style. It's flattering to know that my images are liked enough for people to emulate my work! If you like my style and want me to create images of your mounts, send me a message and we'll discuss what you'd like me to do for you.
Photo shoot:
I will come to your location (or to your Taxidermist) for the photo shoot. I spend as much time per mount necessary to get a wide variety of angles/lighting that I like. If there is something you have in mind I will shoot those angles as well.
$250 per animal which includes 1 edited image. Additional edited images $50 each. Discounts given for multiple mounts, depending on how many you have me do per appointment.
Printing/ etc.:
Multiple printing options and sizes available and I'm open to digitally licensing images. We will discuss what works best for you.
Travel:
Unfortunately going places costs money so travel expenses are required at cost (gas, air fare, lodging etc.) when your location is greater than 50 miles from Cody, Wyoming.
Appointments:
For questions or to schedule an appointment, contact: bryon@bryonworthenphotography.com
Partnering Taxidermists:
I am partnering with select Taxidermists to offer my services to your clients. This is an opportunity for additional income for your business with little effort on your end (plus I get to create more images!). Contact for information.
